About the Artist

God has bestowed many gifts upon us here on earth. I am thankful for the gift of painting that God has given to me.  As an artist, I strive to create works that allow the viewer to escape from the stresses of everyday life. I hope that my work takes you“where you want to be.”

Award Winnning International Artist Patrick Reid O’Brien, has painted since he was a small boy. At 6, he won his first juried art competition in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

In college, Patrick studied oil painting under Professor Thomas Rowe, a student of the realist school of Jaques Maroger from the Maryland Institute College of Art. Patrick graduated with Honors from St. Mary’s College of Maryland where he received a BA in Fine Art. Patrick’s other passions include sports and sailing.

Included in Patrick’s paintings are images from The Mediterranean, Anguilla, Mexico, Long Island, the Atlantic Seashore and Chesapeake Bay. Each coastal region has a unique light that is captured in his compelling work.

This series of paintings “Where you want to be”, is available in limited edition, signed and numbered, Giclees on canvas. Hand embellished Giclees and originals are also available.

Patrick’s painting of the US Capitol was recently selected by the US Capitol Historical Society to be placed on the cover of the official US House and Senate Calendar. Coincidentally, Patrick is the Great, Great, Great, Great Grandson of Thomas Ustick Walter, Architect of the US Capitol in Washington, DC. Patrick’s work is found in galleries, corporate and private collections around the world. Patrick, his wife and 4 children live in Lutherville, Maryland.
